George Osborne received a payout of up to £20,000 when he was sacked by Theresa May .

The multi-millionaire Tory was given the sum after he was humiliatingly fired when Mrs May became PM a year ago.

The ex-Chancellor has since won a string of six lucrative jobs, earning more than £1million.

Accounts slipped out by ministers as Parliament wound down for the summer recess show Mr Osborne got between £15,000 and £20,000.

And Michael Gove, who was sacked as Justice Secretary when Mrs May entered No10, received £17,000.

That was despite him walking straight into a £150,000-a-year job as a columnist for The Times. He was brought back into the Cabinet last month as Environment Secretary.

Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Office Minister Jon Trickett said: “Taxpayers will be shocked that they’re picking up the bill to pay-off two Cabinet ministers who did more than most to ensure working people are worse off.

“It sticks in the craw to see George Osborne, who has taken up six jobs since leaving Parliament, and Michael Gove get rewarded… thousands of pounds of public money.”
